Hala received her M.D. degree from The Hashemite University in Jordan. Afterwards, she relocated to the U.S. to conduct research focused on the genetic profiling of thyroid cancer and the clinical outcomes of robotic hiatal hernia repair using EndoFLIP technology as a fellow in the section of endocrine surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her closed interactions with anesthesiologists sparked curiosity for the field and she joined the Department of Anesthesiology in her existing role as a postdoctoral associate. Her current research focuses on studying the contribution of lower brainstem neuronal subpopulations to generalized fatigue and sleep disturbances in neurodegenerative disorders.
