Continuous regimens of cortico-motor integration calibrate levels of arousal during emergence from coma

This project seeks to understand changes in brain dynamics and behavior of a subject recovering from unconsciousness.  In particular, we aim to establish metrics that distinguish reflexive movements from purposeful movements by combining parameters showing that an individual has regained integrative function: cortical activity, motor behavior, and posture. We apply in vivo recordings and statistical learning approaches to characterize these cortico-motor regimens.
